  • Ceramic Tile: Ceramic tile is primarily made of clay material which is heated to form a solid tile. The top portion of the tile, known as the design layer, is glazed to create a smooth surface.   • Porcelain Tile: Porcelain is made up of very fine sand particles put under extreme heat and pressure to form a solid floor tile. Porcelain is even more durable than ceramic tile, as it gains strength from the pressure it was put under during development. This material also has a slight edge on ceramic tile for its moisture deterrence, with a 0.5% or less water absorption rate, making it ideal for humid spots such as bathrooms or patios.

  • Choosing a Tile Type: The choice between ceramic tile and porcelain tile mainly involves which style you prefer.
