Have you ever wondered how your wall and floor tiles become those flat, durable slabs that adorn your kitchen and bathroom? Watch this video to learn how ceramic tiles are formed.
Ceramic tiles start out as talc that is blended with a few different powered chemicals. These are all mixed together to a mixture of 6% water and 94% powder before being ground into a fine texture. A machine shapes the mixture into tiles and presses it with heat to solidify its shape. The tiles are then swept, painted, dried, and placed into a kiln. Starting out at 390 degrees Fahrenheit, the kiln eventually reaches 1970 degrees so the tiles harden enough to be used in your home.
